Gary Goland sees the importance of health incidence data for local areas being ignored, in a sad reflection of limited achievement by the Commission on Excellence and Innovation in Health. He believes we need to pay attention to what is going on in our backyards, and approach it with greater collaboration across departments and levels of government.
This approach will lead to a more positive future. Health incidence has strong public interest, underlined by the Covid-19 pandemic. Why can’t we take the next step for other diseases and engage a health risk approach that will benefit us all, including our GPs and an overworked health system.
